Hello SErs! Harmony here. Happy Friday 🙂
Today’s the day to share a book with you, and I have chosen ‘Children of Blood and Bone’ by debut author Tomi Adeyemi.
This is, by far, the best fantasy book I’ve read in years. From page one, it grabbed me by the throat and wouldn’t let go.
The book cover doesn’t do much for me, and it was the book trailer that pulled me in. Then I did a ‘look inside’ on Amazon and had to have it. So, my lovely fiance bought this for my birthday … the waiting was terrible, lols. Here is the book trailer …
This is the first ever book trailer to pull me in enough to check out the sales page.
In my post on Creative Grammar at the end of August, which you can find HERE, I quoted a passage from this book, and now I give you a one-liner that I loved …
‘The magical reeds twist in the wind, ignorant of the impossibilities blowing all around us.’
Such language and description is why I have chosen this for today’s book share. The author is of African descent and uses her native heritage to great effect here. From tribal customs and native languages, she has woven a fantasy world of magic that both invites and compels.
Here is the blurb:
They killed my mother.
They took our magic.
They tried to bury us.
Now we rise.
